Offering contrast to a bathroom which is usually much brighter than most other rooms in a home can offer a great focal point. For example, you can use some matte fixtures or accent the shower frame or bathroom hardware to make a great impact especially when putting your home up for sale.
When it comes to having a clean looking bathroom, nothing tops having backlit mirrors and cabinets. Using backlit lighting can add a great effect aesthetically and reduces the amount of lighting required, saving you space.
Especially after this year, it’s no wonder that freestanding and asymmetrical tubs have been making a huge comeback. Size matters and bigger is better, as they offer a great focal point for the bathroom and an amazing place to relax after a long day of work.
2021 has changed the way we use glass bathroom enclosures. Using a few simple objects like a matching small side table, window trim, door colour, and hardware can really help make a bathroom shower enclosure standout.
When it comes to flooring in the bathroom, we have noticed a trend towards hybrid flooring. Where you find a colour palette that works for you with wood and tile. This offers a unique way to design your bathroom and gives a great focal point for potential buyers walking through. At Prep’n Sell, heated flooring has continued to grow in popularity. No one likes a cold floor in the morning!
A fresh coat of paint goes a long way towards updating your bathroom – check out this sunny yellow painted vanity, which is right on 2021’s trend towards vibrant and warm hues. Regardless of what colour you choose, you’ll be painting less often; paint technology has significantly improved in recent years and now offers stain & mildew-resistant formulas and durable, scrubbable options that are safer for your family and the environment.
Minimalist design sends clean to another level. More and more customers are skipping handles in the bathroom. Creating a very streamlined feel which really stands out when potential buyers walk through the door.
Brass has been on the rise when it comes to metals, however, there is no rule to sticking to a specific metal type. Check out this example, where this mirrors frame works great with the use of a few warm tones accessories.
Adding contrasting natural elements like green plants (real or faux), woven baskets, and natural wood can help to soften the sometimes too-austere feel of a bathroom’s hard surfaces. Experiment with a wicker basket to display towels (another softer texture), or a wooden bath shelf as shown here. Pro tip: Cedar products hold up well to moisture and smells just amazing!
Many of Prep’n Sell’s clients live in older homes with bathrooms that are short on space. Wall-mounted vanities can’t change the square footage, but they give the illusion of floating and taking up less visual space. Inset storage has the same effect and provides needed functionality. Both make the room seem larger than it is. Notice the wall-mounted taps? Here they’re used to achieve the height necessary for the vessel sinks, but when used with an undermount sink, they allow a narrower or shorter countertop to have more usable surface area.
With technology advancing so much, smart toilets have also had several advances in 2021, like the self-cleaning technology that kills bacteria using light and offers a hands-free experience. You also have the advantage of not having to deal with a huge toilet as much of the internal plumbing is hidden compared to a traditional toilet.
