What motivates people to buy a franchise business?

Really, there are as many reasons for interest in buying a franchise as there are people. Do you see yourself and your motivation in this infographic?

Why do many new Canadians succeed here?

Personally, I have great admiration for people who are brave enough to come to an unfamiliar country, many carrying nothing but their determination to make a new life for themselves and their families. They arrive in this bountiful land of opportunity, only to find that they’ll need to work 2 or 3 jobs to build a better life. Instead of giving up, they throw themselves into achieving their goals with gusto. They realize that to survive, they need to work very hard, and many are eventually able to buy their own homes. Often, they achieve their success by starting their own businesses.

Most people admire those who own their own businesses. We wish we could enjoy the freedom and unlimited earning potential that business ownership brings. What we often don’t recognize is the bravery necessary to take the first step, and the sweat equity that kept the business going when things were tough.

How can you follow the same path?

No matter where you call home, if you wish to get ahead and change your life, you must take the same approach. It will not be easy, but nothing is impossible, and the rewards and self-confidence you’ll gain through your achievement will change your life!

In quite a perverse way, a newcomer to our country, especially one who is forced to leave their home due to war, famine, or economic oppression, has one big advantage: they have no other option. They cannot stay where they are, so they must forge ahead. There’s no room for doubt or despair. They know they must succeed at all costs. Isn’t it ironic that the same terrible disadvantages can be the impetus for change, for growth, and for success?

The opposite can also be true. Many ordinary Canadians have the same desires to be in business for themselves. Are they less hard-working or intelligent than people from other countries? Certainly not, but they can be trapped by the security of their current job and shackled by a steady pay cheque. Their fear of losing that safety net makes them unable to take the leap into business ownership.

A transitional “bridge” approach to Prep’n Sell ownership

Some people have the impression that once you plunk your money down to buy a franchise business, the cash just starts rolling in. While franchised businesses are known for having more successful outcomes after 5 years than independent businesses, it’s because of franchisor’s experience and support, not because operating a franchise business is easy. There is just as much hard work involved in operating a franchise.

Before you can take the leap from having a job to self-employment, you have to master your fears and be committed to doing whatever it takes to succeed. It takes courage to walk away from a steady pay cheque, even when you really dislike your job and know it’s going nowhere.

We know the DNA of a successful franchise owner and we don’t award our franchises to just anyone. If you’re qualified, committed and a good match for our franchise, we can offer you a bridge to make that leap less scary. You can transition gradually to full-time franchise operation. Keep your job during the initial 4 to 6 months bridge period while you build your business. This means some late nights and weekends while you juggle both, so it’s not for everyone, but choosing this option allows you to relax a bit, knowing your regular pay cheque will cover your family’s ongoing expenses. A few of our successful franchise owners started this way, and we’re very proud of their achievements.

When you join our franchise family you instantly get the security of our corporate team supporting you and working on your behalf. Gain confidence to successfully operate your Prep’n Sell/RenoMagic franchise by completing our comprehensive online onboarding and training.
