I remember saying that 2020 was a year for the record books, but it seems like Covid-19 wasn’t quite done with us in 2021. The pandemic remained the big story for many people this year but, as I look back, I want to focus instead on the important and positive highlights of the year, from a personal and business perspective. Here is my look back at the year that was.
One of the best parts of 2021 was discovering that it was still possible to get out and act like a kid again! I’m a very active, go-go-go kind of person. I thrive when I’m meeting new people, going new places and trying new activities. Some things had to change as we learned to live with the new normal, but we rediscovered how critical it is to our sense of well-being to still make connections and have FUN!
Erol Ozmen joined us in April of 2021, coming not from an employment situation that had gone sour due to the pandemic, but from already owning and operating his own painting business for many years. Erol wanted to grow his business and knew he couldn’t do it alone. Erol says he’s amazed at the immediate trust he gets from potential customers when he has the Prep’n Sell brand behind him. Erol is heading up the Oakville – Milton, Ontario franchise territory.
Jeff Corneil joined us in August, after buying a successful franchise territory from one of the handful of franchise owners who were with us from the start. Due to the solid foundation laid by the original franchise owner, Jeff has been able to hit the ground running, and he is well on his way to having one of the most successful first year results ever! You’ll find Jeff in Langley, British Columbia – one of two franchises in the Greater Vancouver Area. We’re looking forward to further expansion in BC this year.
From April through October, we made a significant investment in terms of focus and time in working with the Hartify team on our franchise development process. They were invaluable in helping us hone our message to interested people and helped us develop rigorous screening tools to ensure we identified the “right fit” potential franchise candidates early in the process. This frees us to spend more time with people who fit our ideal candidate persona, and who will be successful Prep’n Sell franchise partners.
We have lofty goals for our franchisees, and we want to work with people who appreciate how hard we work on their behalf, and who share our no-limits attitude.
Just as almost every home seller is also a home buyer, we know that every new Prep’n Sell franchise owner will eventually move on to other things.
Richard Foster, one of the very first Prep’n Sell franchise partners, joined us way back in September 2016. Having spent many years behind a desk in upper management with a major Canadian retailer, Richard was not quite ready for retirement and was looking for a completely new kind of challenge. He found it in Prep’n Sell! Being involved from the early days, Richard influenced the direction of our franchise system.
After building his own very successful territory, Richard sold his Langley, British Columbia business this past summer to Jeff, and retired to the warmer climate and laid-back lifestyle of Panama. We will miss Richard’s always astute and forthright contributions, and his dry sense of humour, and we wish him all the best as he moves into the next phase of life.
We lost our dog Cliff earlier this year. Those of you who’ve experienced the death of a longtime animal companion will know how difficult it is, and we found our home was missing the warmth and love that a beloved pet brings.
About a month ago, Jaws – oops, I mean Jake the double doodle puppy joined our family. Having rescued Cliff as a full-grown dog, and with our own children already adults, waking up in the middle of the night came as a bit of a shock to the system, and we’re now reminded of just how much work – and joy – comes with a new puppy! Jake is full of life, love and energy, so it’s all good.
If you’re ready to talk seriously about your goals for the upcoming year … if this is your year to get off the fence … if you know you’re meant for something better … shoot me an email at dcollier@prepnsell.com and let’s set up a time to talk.
Whether or not you’re ready to join us, I want to thank you for taking the time to investigate our opportunity.
All the best to you and yours from our whole team!
